| Presumption window | Indiana's term of protection is the earlier of 18 months / 18,000 miles. The FIRST report must land inside it — but the repair attempts and shop days may run past it. |
|---|---|
| Same defect | 4+ repair attempts |
| Days out of service | 30+ business days — 30 or more BUSINESS days out of service, for any nonconformity. |
The presumption is the set of numbers that shifts the burden to the manufacturer. A claim can exist outside the presumption — it is a shortcut, not the whole road. Read why.
Deduction = (miles before the vehicle's return ÷ 100,000) × contract price.
Written notice to the manufacturer is required before you are eligible for a refund or replacement.
Dispute route: A qualified manufacturer's informal dispute program, if one exists and you were notified, may have to be used first.
Attorney's fees: Indiana provides attorney's fees (§24-5-13-22).
An Indiana action must be filed within 2 years following the first report of the nonconformity — the first-report date starts that clock.
